Bush Library Announces Activities During Aggie Polar Palooza
College Station, Texas, August 29, 2008
ATTENTION MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS:
While the Aggie Polar Palooza show at 10 a.m. on November 5, 2008 in Rudder Auditorium will be the primary attraction, the Bush Presidential Library and Museum will host a series of complementary educational events that will add value to your visit to Texas A&M University.
A tentative schedule (subject to change) for events, after the Aggie Polar Palooza show, has been released:
- 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. Students will depart to the Bush Museum
- 11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. Lunch on Bush Museum grounds
- 12 p.m. Rotations begin of the following:
- Tour the new exhibit that explores the history of the American space program. Beyond the Moon: NASA’s continuing Mission features a section on the International Space Station and the 16 country partnership working to build the orbital platform. Tours are 30 minutes and self-guided. Docents will be available to answer questions. Tour times: 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. & 1:30 p.m.
- Tour the Texas A&M groHome Solar House. This structure is designed to anticipate changing needs of the building owner and allow for upgrades, replacements, and enhancements. The overall goal is to optimize not only the total cost of ownership but the total cost of lifestyle. The Solar House is located in the parking lot of the Bush Museum. Tours are 30 minutes and self-guided. Tour times: 12 p.m., 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. & 1:30 p.m. For more details....
- Attend Texas A&M Chemistry Road Show. This educational program introduces students to the wonders of chemistry with the help of fire, explosions, weird polymers and super cold materials. Performances are 30 minutes and will be held in the Presidential Conference Center. Show times: 12:00 p.m. & 1:00 p.m.
- NASA hands on Activities in Plaza Area - TBD
The events have been timed to allow school groups to begin the trip home by 2 p.m.
